PROMOTING BRITISH VALUES
The fundamental British values of democracy, rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance for those with different faith and beliefs are already implicitly embedded in the 2014 Early Years Foundation Stage. Please refer to the document Fundamental British Values in the Early Years. The Counter Terrorism and Security Act also places a duty on early years providers to have duty regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism (The Prevent Duty). Statutory Guidance on the duty is the document Prevent Duty Guidance for England and Wales, available from the nursery.
As part of the Early Years this is a life skill that we embed within all our practices whilst working with children in our care. We promote this by supporting all young children using the Early Years Foundation Stage (2014) guidance to meet the unique needs of all individuals in our care.
