A WORD FROM THE MANAGER: Happy new year to all families, I do hope you had a lovely time off over the holidays and from all of us at monkey puzzle, welcome to all our new families and their children to monkey puzzle Battersea I would like to say thankyou for a warm welcome I have had from parents since I have started, and I look forward to a great year full of exciting activities and events and working alongside all of you to create a fantastic nursery. I have worked in childcare for 9 years and have been a manager for 2 years previously. I have a background in leadership, Special educational needs and performing arts also. January is such an exciting time for new ideas and making plans! We look forward to the year ahead.
WHAT WE HAVE PLANNED? We are delighted to say that this year we have so many exciting activities planned! We will have a new 4 week rolling menu, this will be displayed outside our kitchen for all parents to see. Our rooms planning, and key person information will be displayed outside your child’s room, as well as any additional events they may be participating in. We will be setting up yoga classes, music classes, cooking classes and language classes. These are some fantastic extracurricular activities for your children to enjoy alongside their learning of the EYFS through play.
WHAT WILL/HAVE THE CHILDREN BEEN LEARNING ABOUT? The children will be learning about ‘Icy, Cold, Weather’ with activities such as ice play, melting the ice using pipettes to free the animals frozen inside, painting with ice and exploring sensory “snow” using shaving foam. We will also be exploring objects that are cold or need to be worn in cold weather such as our hats and coats and gloves. Whilst the current topic is cold weather, the children will also be celebrating National Storytelling week and Chinese New Year.
Upcoming events; National Story Telling Week Jan 30th – Feb 6th This week will be full of stories and role play! you may bring in your favourite book to read and share with friends! _____________________ Chinese New Year February 5th 2019 A chance to embrace and immerse ourselves in the festivities. We aim to broaden children’s horizons and celebrate cultures and traditions that may already be familiar to many children and families. “Parents evening” week February 25th-1st March 2019 9:00am-6:30pm everyday Please book a 15min slot to see your children’s keyworker, the appointment sheet will be in the parents/meeting room. This is a chance to celebrate books and wonderful stories we have all loved to read, we will be dressing up and getting stuck into some great books and activities!
